1 Year & 1 Month of TTC Baby #2: Ultrasound + Mid-Cycle Update

I’m currently on CD16 and thought I’d hop on here since there have been a few updates (and I want to keep this as real time as possible). In this blog I talked about how I switched from taking Clomid to Letrozole this cycle and I will say I already love it so much more, you’ll see why.

Additionally, I started taking actual photos of my OPK tests using the Pregmate app.

You’re probably familiar with the Pregmate OPK and pregnancy tests. I’ve been using them religiously since the beginning of my TTC journey and while I’ve been using them, I haven’t been taking photos or saving them and I have no idea why! The Pregmate App is seriously a God send. It deciphers the results for you so there’s no guessing whether you’re test is positive or negative! (I mean look at CD13, can you really tell if that’s a negative or a positive? LOL the lines look practically the same.)

Today (CD16) I took a third test, just to check and was SHOOK to have a third positive day. WUT? I ChatGPTed if this was normal and apparently it is, especially because I’m taking fertility medication!

Because of my request to switch to Letrozole and my note to the Fertility Clinic that I wasn’t sure whether or not I was ovulating, I got scheduled for an ultrasound on CD15 (yesterday).

I had an insane wait for my appointment (almost an hour) and the ultrasound itself went by in a flash! I literally went in, had my vitals taken and then got naked from the waist down. A few minutes later the PA and her assistant came in and conducted the ultrasound. She was saying some things (not sure if it was to herself or the assistant), but at the end of the procedure I ended up asking her what the results were.

She noted that I was responding really well to the letrozole, my lining was looking nice and thick and perfect for supporting implantation, and that I had a really nice big follice in the left ovary. And that based on the size, I was ready to ovulate any day now (which coincides with the OPK test).

My Oūra Ring temperature readings are still showing no ovulation…

According to my temperature in Oūra, I still haven’t ovulated. Although I’m on CD16, my temperature still hasn’t risen. Which, according to ChatGPT is not a big deal because I am either ovulating today or tomorrow. I'm going to take another OPK test tomorrow morning to see if the LH surge is still being detected.

Since switching to Letrozole, I’m seeing my EWCM again.

In this same blog about why I switched from Clomid, I mentioned that my “ovulation symptoms” (egg white cervical mucus, cramping, etc.) went away so I couldn’t tell whether I was ovulating or not. I was so happy when I got EWCM on CD14! It felt like my body was normalizing a little.

I also felt some slight cramping today, though I cannot be sure whether or not that was a result of ovulation or the food I ate, LOL.

In addition to that, it feels like I am ovulating mid-cycle versus later on, giving me a chance to have a longer luteal phase. (We like that!)

We’re doing timed intercourse (TI) this cycle, so fingers crossed for us that this works! ☻

Next steps…

  • Next week (well, more like in a few days), I have to get some blood drawn to check my progesterone levels to ensure whether I am ovulating or not. I’ll keep you updated on the results of the lab (and my OPK test tomorrow).

  • TWW! If I did ovulate, which fingers crossed I do/did, then we’re on our TWW. My cycle has been around 29/30 days which would make our luteal phase around 14 days! I’ve been having 10/11 day luteal phases so this is welcome news.
