Month Nine of Trying to Conceive Baby #2: Pre-Polypectomy

Welp, yesterday marked Month Nine of trying to conceive our second little one! Although I knew it was coming, Aunt Flo made her unwanted entrance again. However, I was glad she finally came because it meant I could get the ball rolling on my Polypectomy.

Initially, the OR (operating room) scheduler asked if I could do 4/25 as my surgery date, but two things said NOPE. One, I wasn’t on birth control like they thought I was. Two, I have a big photo shoot for work that week, so I won’t be able to get surgery then, even if I want to.

Since AF reared her red-head, here’s what’s gone down:

  1. I texted them yesterday, Sunday when I got my period.

  2. They responded this morning asking if it was spotting or full flow, to which I said it was full flow (BOO!).

  3. They came back with a bunch of things for me to do (see below).

  4. I filled out a pre-surgery questionnaire (basically asking if I ever had anesthesia, allergies, etcetera etcetera).

  5. I called my insurance company’s (HMSA) travel department to determine my/our benefits for travel reimbursement, if any.

  6. I texted a girlfriend to see if we can stay with her when we fly up for surgery.

  7. I booked a rental car!

  8. I also requested that the clinic submit a Travel Request for me so I can get reimbursed!

Here’s what my clinic said:

  1. Start birth control tomorrow - Tuesday (UGH)! I have to be on active birth control from now until surgery, which is scheduled for May 9th.

  2. I won’t know what time I’ll have to check in until Wednesday (May 7th) before my surgery.

  3. It’s an outpatient surgery, so I can fly home the same day if I want. However, my flight cannot be until after 4 p.m. due to potential delays in the OR.

  4. I cannot drive that day as I will have been under anesthesia, so I need a driver.

  5. They were going to prescribe birth control, but I’d already picked it up.

Here’s what I still have to do:

  1. Book my flights. I wanted to consult with my husband before I booked them to ensure he was on board with our plans (which he, of course, is).

  2. Find my heating pad!!! When I had the Polypectomy back in 2021, that thing was a LIFE SAVER. I need to find it, charge it, and make sure it still works so I can pack it. LOL

  3. Figure out my comfy outfit for the day. Hahaha, just kidding - but not really. I will want to be in jammies all day, so I want to make sure I’m wearing something comfy and not tight.

  4. Get through the next few weeks without anxiety! Okay, but seriously, it’ll go by quickly (I hope). I’m very excited to get the show on the road because it means we’ll be one step closer to baby 2.
